Skyfall crew “blown away” by set location
It turns out 007 fanatics aren’t the only ones being wowed by what they’ve seen so far from Sam Mendes’ latest addition to the film franchise. The crew of Skyfall have been “absolutely blown away” by the landscape and the red deer stags that showed up while shooting in the tiny settlement of Glencoe, located in the Highlands of Scotland. Anna Preuss, who works for the National Trust for Scotland (NTS)—a conservation organization dedicated to protecting and promoting Scotland’s natural and cultural heritage—said, “It was a really great experience to be on a set like this but the greatest reward was the feedback of the crew who were absolutely blown away by the beauty of the surroundings.” NTS used to be much stricter about film productions out of fear that there would be more focus on getting the “pefect shot rather than the welfare of historical paintings and furniture,” according to a report in a recent issue of the NTS members’ magazine. The organization is now becoming more “film friendly,” and with other big-budget productions such as 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger that have filmed in Glencoe, it’s likely that we will be seeing much more of its scenic beauty. ~Brandon Bastaldo
