Skyfall breaks UK box office records
The 23rd installment in the James Bond franchise, Skyfall, opened October 26 in the UK and the Daniel Craig action vehicle has already yielded monumental results. So far, Skyfall has made approximately $287 million in its two week stint overseas. But according to Deadline, $156 million of the movie’s total gross was pulled in just this past weekend alone. While the boost can attributed to Skyfall being made available to other foreign markets like Mexico and Germany, director Sam Mendes‘ film is also breaking records. In its first week out in the UK, Skyfall broke the record for the largest seven-day box office gross, which was previously held by author J.K. Rowling’s wizardry school drama finale Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Estimates for Skyfall‘s North American gross clock in at just over $200 million, which would make this the most successful Bond film of all time. Skyfall opens in theaters across North America on this Friday. ~Brandon Bastaldo
