James Bond Day announced
Let nobody say that James Bond doesn’t party in style. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Bond franchise, October 5, 2012 will be Global James Bond Day, and fans from around the world are invited to celebrate the longest-running franchise in cinema history. “We are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating James Bond’s golden anniversary on film with this special day of events for Bond fans around the world,” said Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, longtime producers of the Bond franchise. These worldwide events include a global, online charity auction that will take place live (courtesy of Christie’s in London), a global survey that will discover the favorite Bond film on a country-to-country basis, a Music of Bond night in Los Angeles hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the opening of “Designing 007: 50 Years of James Bond Style” in Toronto at TIFF, with even more events being planned on a country-by-country basis.
In addition, October 5 will also see the premiere of Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007, a feature-length documentary which promises to shed light on the three men who were responsible for crafting the 007 legend: producers Albert R. Broccoli, Harry Saltzman and author Ian Fleming. Directed by Stevan Riley, the film grants unprecedented access to fans for how the longest-running movie franchise in history started out. Country-specific release dates will follow after the premiere.
The 23rd installment in the franchise, Skyfall, will see release a month later, on November 9th. ~Devin Garabedian
