Fifty years ago today marks the release of the first ever Bond film, Dr. No, which starred Sean Connery, then 30, as English author Ian Lancaster Fleming’s suave spy James Bond. The success of Dr. No spawned a film series spanning half a century. On October 26, we will see Bond 23 joining the legacy with the addition with Sam MendesSkyfall. Starring Daniel Craig as a beefed up Bond, Craig is the sixth actor to reprise the role of the 007 agent and in celebration of the bi-centennial anniversary of this multi-million dollar franchise, today — Friday, October 5 —  is Global James Bond Day. A number of events are taking place around the globe to commemorate the last 50 years of the MI6 operative’s cinematic legacy. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Bond Night is being hosted by music historian Jon Burlingame in Los Angeles—while on the other side of the world— Belgium and South African offices will be hosting a special Bond-themed Casual Friday where employees can wear gowns and tuxedos to work. On top of all this, pop superstar Adele’s recently announced Skyfall theme song hits airwaves today. How will you be celebrating Bond Day? ~Brandon Bastaldo
