James Bond fans in Toronto are in for a real treat. The TIFF Bell Lightbox’s Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style exhibit opened last week and will be open to the public until January 20, 2013. The gallery comes just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Bond film franchise and TIFF teamed up with the Barbican Centre in London, England to bring the Designing 007 exhibit overseas. Barbican is the largest performing arts center in Europe and with their help, TIFF’s Bond-themed gallery will be in full swing for the North American release of the 23rd installment, Skyfall, on November 12.
The exhibit showcases a huge collection of authentic costumes, sets and props that have defined the suave M16 agent over the decades and commemorates the 50 years of skill, imagination and ambition of the many designers who helped to create Bond’s iconic style. Played by six different actors over the course of five decades, Bond is the longest-running film franchise of all time and this exhibit also aims to explore the creative processes involved in producing the influential series. Check out the gallery below to see some of the unique exhibits, original artwork and props straight from the big screen.
