Daniel Craig talks fame and fortune
He may seem smooth and stoic on camera, but even 007 can get nervous. Starring mainly in indie films before becoming James Bond, Daniel Craig was not necessarily prepared for A-list super-stardom, quoted as saying, “It threw me for a loop, quite honestly. It really f**king shook me up and made me look at the world in a different way. It changed my life.” The actor, who also appeared in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, went on to say, “It just confused the hell out of me. Fame and fortune, for want of a better expression, is f**king scary. My background is not well off. And there aren’t many people you can ask for advice about dealing with that.”
Without anyone to turn to on the subject of money, Craig explained in an interview with Esquire magazine that he “couldn’t find a lot of fun in fame,” adding, “I’m not very materialistic. I mean, I love nice things, but I give a f**k what is going on in my head you know?” Through his journey to a new life, Craig faced some challenges, recounting, “I think I probably stopped knowing myself for a few years.” Despite the struggles off screen, Craig definitely manages to pull off his 007 persona.
