When a reconnaissance mission to a terrorist arms-bazaar on the Russian border goes wrong, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) must act swiftly to thwart an orchestrated war between China and the United Kingdom.
Using a stolen GPS encoder, media baron Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce) plots to overthrow the Chinese government, replacing them with one that’s more supportive of his plan for exclusive broadcast rights. To do so, he stages multiple attacks from one country on the other, giving the appearance of unsolicited declarations of war—which his television network then reports.
With time running out before an all-out nuclear standoff between the two nations erupts, Bond and MI6 race to take Carver down.
