British Minister of Defence Sir Fredrick Gray and Bill Tanner, MI6 Chief of Staff, order James Bond (Roger Moore) to retrieve the Automatic Targeting Attack Communicator, which is on the spy boat St Georges, before the Soviets get their hands on it.
Marine archaeologist Sir Timothy Havelock, whom the British asked to secretly find out where St Georges was, is murdered, along with his wife, by Cuban assassin Hector Gonzales. Bond decides to find out who hired the hitman, but before he can learn the truth, Gonzales is killed by Sir Timothy’s daughter.
