M asks James Bond (Roger Moore) to take a break when a golden bullet with his code “007” engraved on it is sent to MI6. He believes it came from an assassin named Francisco Scaramango, who’s known for using a golden gun, and he believes Bond may be in danger.
Bond sets out on his own to find Scaramanga and follows his mistress, Andrea Anders, to Hong Kong and pressures her to tell him about Scaramanga. She sends him to a club where Scaramanga is planning to kill Gibson, who has the “Solex agitator,” which can control solar power. Scaramanga’s henchman Nick Nack steals it.
M and Q decide to assign Bond the job of getting the device back and assassinating Scaramanga.
